In any application where the ground speed of a tractor needs to be adapted readily to different working conditions, there can be no doubt that a continuously variable
transmission is a great asset.

But there's more to it. To be truly functional and efficient, a good CVT must also ensure that the speed of the P.T.O. shaft will always remain steady, and independent of the
vehicle's ground speed. And it doesn't end there.

To be genuinely versatile, a machine with CVT must also be compact and agile, with no superfluous bulk, to ensure effortless negotiation of restricted spaces and inter-row corridors. Add to these general attributes the facility of accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in fully automatic mode, even at low crankshaft speed ("economy" – 1800 rpm), without needing to select the range, and of slowing or stopping simply at the touch of a joystick, working with little room to manoeuvre - in short, this is precisely what the SAME Silver³ has to offer. Silver³ Continuo models are equipped with a modern 4-cylinder Deutz TIER III engine of the 2012 series, developed especially for agricultural use and offering consistently high levels of efficiency together with notable fuel economy. Thanks to its generous displacement (4038 cm³), innovative high pressure injection system and turbo-intercooled
design, this is an engine guaranteed to deliver significantly high power and torque over a wide range of crankshaft speeds.
